ACNE SCRUBS - How To Use Them Effectively
If you are at your wits end with acne and pimple related problems, you are not alone. Acne is caused by bacterial infection in clogged pores. What should you do? One good answer is to clear up your skin with a good acne scrub. If you take a walk at your nearest drugstore, you would find hundreds of different acne scrubs. Are you sue they would help and not actually be making your acne worse? Another problem with application of acne scrub is either over scrubbing or not enough scrubbing.
No matter what acne scrub you use, never scrub your face too hard. This will make acne worse because it has been clinically proven that excessive washing and scrubbing actually irritates the skin. Before you apply a good acne scrub, wash problem areas with a mild cleanser. Some people tend to develop acne around hairlines; if you are one of them, do not use acne scrubs rather shampoo your hair frequently.
Acne scrubs - no matter how good they are – should not to be used on a daily basis. You should only use an acne scrub two or three times per week. If you have oily skin, you can generally exfoliate two to three days a week without any bad effects. You should not exfoliate if your skin feels dry or irritated, or if it looks red and flaky. People with more dry, delicate skin should exfoliate not more than one to two times a week, ideally with a mild exfoliating acne scrub that would not irritate their sensitive skin. Warm weather increases perspiration and oil production, leading to speedier accumulation of dead cells so if you live in warm weather, you should exfoliate more frequently to protect the skin from clogged pores and breakous.
If you have white heads or very severe acne, you should consult a dermatologist first. If you only have blackheads, good acne scrubs can be do wonders. On the other hand, those with acne, especially breakouts that are inflamed, crusting, oozing, or open sores, should avoid acne scrubs altogether.
Some users swear by something called the Asprin acne scrub. Aspirin is a form of salicylic acid and it can be found in many skin clearing and exfoliating products. Scrubbing with aspirin acne scrub clears pores. Salicylic acid which is a beta hydroxy acid has the ability to penetrate deeply to unclog pores. I personally used acne scrubs with aspirin and found it to be very effective in reducing acne problems.
While exfoliation with a good acne scrub is necessary to eliminate pimples and blackheads, too much use of acne scrubs or too frequent use of acne scrub may produce dry, red and flaky skin.
